Description
Unnamed Waterfall on Coppermine Brook 1 is an off-trail waterfall located on Coppermine Brook in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
Unnamed Waterfall on Coppermine Brook 1 is fairly difficult to reach and requires a bushwhack. Those who reach the waterfall are greeted with an impressive two-step cascade; the first step drops down a steep slide before transitioning into a more standard cascade after a small pool. A log jam is located between the two steps, offering a place to cross the brook as well as view the upper step.
Directions
- From the trailhead on Old Mine Road, follow the Red Coppermine Trail. After about a hundred feet, the trail forks with the red blazes pointing right. Turn left onto the obvious but unmarked trail.
- Follow this unmarked trail about a quarter mile before it ends at the (gated) entrance to the old mine.
- Here, you can view a smaller cascade, but you will need to go off-trail to see the next one.
- Work your way upstream, where you will soon reach Lower Coppermine Falls, before reaching this unnamed waterfall. The closer you get to the waterfall, the more challenging the terrain becomes.
Parking
The parking area is very small. While there used to be a large parking area at the bottom of the Coppermine Trail, it has since been blocked. Now, there are about 4-5 spaces on the shoulder of Old Mine Road at the trailhead. Alternatively, there is another small parking area about 0.25 miles down the road at the Poxono Boat Launch, which can also fill up during boating season.
