Unnamed Waterfall on Coppermine Brook 8

A waterfall on Coppermine Brook

Description

Unnamed Waterfall on Coppermine Brook 8 is a small waterfall in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Unlike many of the waterfalls on Coppermine Brook, this one is both visible and easily reached from the trail.

The trail takes you to the top of the waterfall and approaches slightly from the back. Fortunately, the waterfall is slightly angled towards where the trail ends, offering a good view. To get a more head-on view of the waterfall, you will need to scramble down to the brook, but this is not necessary for most visitors.

Directions

  1. Take the Red Coppermine Trail from the parking area. (Note: an unmarked trail branches left at the beginning of the hike; it leads to a few larger waterfalls, most notably Lower Coppermine Falls).
  2. After 0.7 miles, the trail makes a left turn at 41.03068, -75.02313.
  3. At this turn, you can see an obvious unmarked trail ahead that leads to Coppermine Falls. A less obvious trail is to the right, which will take you to this waterfall.
  4. Follow the short trail to the top of the waterfall.

Parking

Unfortunately, the parking area for Coppermine Brook is very small. While there used to be a large parking area at the bottom of the Coppermine Trail, it has since been blocked. Now, there are about 4-5 spaces on the shoulder of Old Mine Road at the trailhead. Alternatively, there is another small parking area about 0.25 miles down the road at the Poxono Boat Launch, which can also fill up during boating season.
