Description

Upper Lockatong Falls is a small waterfall on Lockatong Creek in Kingwood Township. The waterfall is slightly upstream from the larger and more notable Lockatong High Falls. The upper falls are a wide cascade that spans the entire creek. While the waterfall is wide, it is fairly short at only 6 feet.

Parking

Parking is available at 235 Kingwood Stockton Rd, Stockton, NJ 08559. The parking lot is at the end of a poorly maintained, quarter-mile dirt road. The road is littered with potholes, and I would advise coming in a high-clearance vehicle. At the end of the driveway, there is a crude parking lot that holds about 10 cars, but this number depends on how other people park.

Directions

From the parking area, it is an easy hike to the falls.

  1. Locate the trail between two cut logs with the preserve rules posted on them.
  2. Follow the generally unmarked, but easy-to-follow trail for 0.9 miles to where it ends at the main Lockatong High Falls.
  3. At the main falls, locate the unofficial Blue Trail. Follow this trail for 0.3 miles until you reach the Upper Falls.
