Unnamed Waterfall at Abram S. Hewitt State Forest 4 is an off-trail waterfall located in West Milford.
The easiest access is to park in the pull-off on Warwick Turnpike at 41.157528, -74.367500. Note that there are multiple pull-offs on this road; if you park in one of the other pull-offs, you will need to walk up or down the busy road. From the pull-off, find the Green and Blue Bearfort Connector Trail. Almost immediately after beginning this trail, you will reach a bridge over Green Brook. To the left and visible from the bridge is another unnamed waterfall.
From here, you will need to work your way upstream. This is very challenging due to the thick rhododendron lining Green Brook. While you can hear this waterfall (as well as the one following it) from the trail, there is no actual path through the rhododendron to it. For this reason, your best bet is to hike through the water. You will first need to make your way up the first waterfall, which is challenging but can be done from its left side. Once you reach the top, yet another unnamed waterfall will be immediately visible upstream.
Continue working your way upstream past a few smaller cascades until you reach a large pool with a large cascading waterfall at the other end. This waterfall is much more impressive than images make it out to be, as it is an extensive cascade hidden within lush forest growth.
Unfortunately, this waterfall tends to dry to a trickle in the summer. This is really unfortunate, because as I mentioned above, you will have to walk through Green Brook itself.
