Otter Hole Falls at Norvin Green State Forest

Otter Hole Falls is an easy-to-reach waterfall in Norvin Green State Forest. From the parking area on Otterhole Road, the waterfall is only a few hundred feet down the trail.

Otter Hole Falls is a multi-step waterfall consisting of two primary drops. Both sides of the waterfall offer excellent viewing opportunities. Note that there is no bridge across the waterfall; the trail crosses over the top of the waterfall via a set of stepping stones. During times of exceptionally high water, these stones are covered, and it is not safe to cross.

Directions

  • From the parking area on Otter Hole Road, locate Blue Hewitt-Butler Trail on the same side of the road as the parking area. Do not cross the road.
  • Walk a couple hundred feet until you reach Otter Hole Falls.

Parking

Parking at Otter Hole Falls is limited and can be challenging.

Otter Hole features two small lots, each holding about 10 cars. The two parking areas are located at 582 Glenwild Ave, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403.

If possible, try to visit on a weekday or before 9:00 a.m. on weekends to avoid parking issues. Do not park on the shoulder of Glenwild Avenue, as the police regularly ticket vehicles here.
