Apshawa Falls

An image of a scenic waterfall

Apshawa Falls is a small but scenic waterfall in Passaic County’s Apshawa Preserve. Apshawa Falls consists of two main drops separated by a large pool. Above and below the waterfall are a few smaller cascades.

Apshawa Falls is one of the more difficult-to-reach waterfalls in New Jersey. The trail is well-marked and well-maintained, but hikers must ascend and descend multiple hills and take three separate trails to reach it. It features multiple short drops along the winding Apshawa Brook. Oddly, the Green Trail actually briefly departs Apshawa Brook in the vicinity of the falls. Despite this, the waterfall is still easy to find as it is still visible, though visitors will want to leave the trail to better explore the waterfall.
