Allamuchy Falls

Allamuchy Falls in Allamuchy State Park

Allamuchy Falls is a small waterfall located just off the Sussex Branch Trail in Allamuchy State Park. The easiest way to reach Allamuchy Falls is by parking at the Sussex Branch Trail parking area at the intersection of Waterloo Road and Continental Drive. Note that this parking area tends to fill up fast most days. Alternate parking is located at Cranberry Lake, with access to the same trail but in the opposite direction.

The waterfall is located just off the easy and flat Sussex Branch Trail, about three-quarters of a mile from the recommended parking area. The waterfall can be seen from the Sussex Branch Trail, but it is partially obscured by trees and a bend in Ghost Pond Brook. Do not try to cross the brook here unless you want to get your feet wet. Just upstream of the waterfall is a small bridge over Ghost Pony Brook carrying the Teal Highlands Trail. The official trail turns right after the bridge, but an obvious path straight ahead and to the right offers a much better view of the waterfall.

Allamuchy Falls is a small cascade that splits in two near the bottom before dropping into a small pool.
