Description
Valhalla Falls is a small but scenic waterfall located at Pyramid Mountain County Park. At only 13.3 feet, the waterfall is not large, but it has a unique appearance as it cascades over a small ledge.
Valhalla Falls is located at the quieter side of Pyramid Mountain County Park, in an area referred to as Turkey Mountain. A moderate hike is required to reach Valhalla Falls.
Directions
There are two main ways to get to Valhalla Falls. Most people start from the Pyramid Mountain Visitor Center, but there is a shorter route available. Both descriptions are below.
- From the Visitor Center (1.5 miles one-way):
- Park at 472 Boonton Ave, Boonton, NJ 07005, and cross the road at the Visitor Center to start the Yellow Trail.
- After a half mile turn left on to the Orange Dot Trail to climb to the top of Turkey Mountain.
- At the top, turn right onto the Green Dot Trail, which takes you back down Turkey Mountain.
- Turn left onto the Yellow Trail and follow it until you reach Valhalla Falls.
- From Brook Valley Road (0.9 miles one-way):
- Park at the 2-car pull-off near the intersection of Stony Brook and Brook Valley Road at 40.955583, -74.363778
- From the pull-off, cross the small vehicular bridge over Crooked Brook, then turn right onto the Red Trail. (Note: the Red Trail is a loop that starts and ends at the pull-off, make sure you cross the bridge to go the right way)
- Follow the Red Trail for 0.9 miles until you reach Valhalla Falls.
