Description
Upper Lockatong Falls is a small waterfall on Lockatong Creek in Kingwood Township. The waterfall is slightly upstream from the larger and more notable Lockatong High Falls. The upper falls are a wide cascade that spans the entire creek. While the waterfall is wide, it is fairly short at only 6 feet.
Parking
Parking is available at 235 Kingwood Stockton Rd, Stockton, NJ 08559. The parking lot is at the end of a poorly maintained, quarter-mile dirt road. The road is littered with potholes, and I would advise coming in a high-clearance vehicle. At the end of the driveway, there is a crude parking lot that holds about 10 cars, but this number depends on how other people park.
Directions
From the parking area, it is an easy hike to the falls.
- Locate the trail between two cut logs with the preserve rules posted on them.
- Follow the generally unmarked, but easy-to-follow trail for 0.9 miles to where it ends at the main Lockatong High Falls.
- At the main falls, locate the unofficial Blue Trail. Follow this trail for 0.3 miles until you reach the Upper Falls.
