Unnamed Waterfall on Posts Brook 2 is one of a handful of waterfalls along Posts Brook in Norvin Green State Forest, including the more well-known Otter Hole Falls and Chikahoki Falls. This waterfall receives limited foot traffic because it is off-trail and requires a short bushwhack to reach. Unlike another unnamed waterfall located just downstream, this waterfall is fairly difficult to reach due to steep slopes and rocky terrain. Additionally, while the waterfall just below this one tends to look decent year-round, this waterfall nearly always appears dry even when other waterfalls in the area are flowing well. When this waterfall flows strongly, as pictured below, it is fairly challenging to view safely.

Unlike many other off-trail waterfalls in the state, such as Silver Spray Falls, there is no clear path to take to the cascade. For this reason, I will not be providing a detailed description of how to reach the waterfall; instead, I highly recommend putting the coordinates provided below into a GPS and forging your own path. Note: only do this if you are comfortable hiking off-trail.

Parking

Parking at Norvin Green State Forest is limited and can be challenging. There are three parking areas providing easy access to the falls: two at Otter Hole and one at a small pull-off.

Most hikers park at Otter Hole, which features two parking areas. This is recommended, as it is slightly larger and has direct access to the Otter Hole Falls, another great waterfall in the park. Otter Hole features two small lots, each holding about 10 cars. The two parking areas are located at 582 Glenwild Ave, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403.

Another option is the pull-off at the start of the Wyanokie Crest Trail. This lot holds about 4 cars and is located just uphill from Lake Kampfe on Glenwild Avenue.

If possible, try to visit on a weekday or before 9:00 a.m. on weekends to avoid parking issues. Do not park on the shoulder of Glenwild Avenue, as the police regularly ticket vehicles here.
