Unnamed Waterfall on Dunnfield Creek is a small waterfall in Worthington State Forest. The most direct way to reach the waterfall is to take the Appalachian Trail from the Dunnfield Creek Parking Area off Route 80. After about 0.2 miles, you will see the waterfall on the right, a short distance past another unnamed waterfall. If you continue up the trail, you will pass a few other waterfalls, concluding with the 17-foot Dunnfield Falls.
This waterfall is also visible on the popular Mount Tammany Loop. The general recommendation for hiking Mount Tammany (and one that we agree with) is to hike up the Red Mount Tammany Trail and down the Blue Pahaquarry Trail, which later leads to the Appalachian Trail at Dunnfield Creek, where you will see the waterfall on the return to the parking lot.
This waterfall is very long, but relatively flat. The creek here funnels into a small slide with a couple of main drops and fast-moving water. The waterfall is only 6 feet tall but about 20 feet long. With that description, this might not even sound like a waterfall, but when you are there, it is fair to refer to this as one. It is actually one of my favorites on Dunnfield Creek. Due to this length, pictures do not do it justice, and it is hard to fully appreciate unless you are there in person.
Getting close to this waterfall is very challenging, and unfortunately, it is hard to see from the trail. There are two very steep user-made trails down to the water, one at the top and one at the bottom. These trails are short but incredibly steep, and you will likely need to use your hands to get down. Unfortunately, the soil here is also very loose, making it more challenging to reach.
