Description
Silver Spray Falls (also known as Hidden Falls) is a large off-trail waterfall located near Buttermilk Falls. Despite being off-trail, reaching it is actually fairly simple for those who know where to look. A short hike takes visitors to this relatively unknown waterfall as described in the full post linked below.
Topographic maps indicate that there may be an additional, larger cascade upstream from the main waterfall. The terrain here is very steep and untracked; it should not be attempted except by experienced climbers. I have seen no reference to this second waterfall online.
Directions
- Locate the trailhead at 41.14059, -74.88125. Note that the trail is unmarked; it can be located in the back of a parking pull-off
- Follow the trail for 0.2 miles until you reach Silver Spray Falls.
Parking
Parking for Silver Spray Falls can be challenging. There is a very small pull-off with room for 1-2 cars at the trailhead at 41.14059, -74.88125. Alternatively, you can park at the parking lot for Buttermilk Falls a short distance further down the road and walk back towards the trailhead. Note that due to road closures, access to Silver Spray Falls is limited, and you must drive in from Struble Road off Route 23.
