High Falls is a little-known waterfall on Neldon’s Brook and located within the community of Swartswood. Unfortunately, the waterfall resides entirely on private property and remains strictly inaccessible to the general public. Historically, the location served an industrial purpose, as High Falls was once the site of a local mill. Over time, however, the mill was decommissioned and eventually completely removed, leaving few physical traces of its former presence.
Included in the gallery below are several historical postcard I was able to find with images depicting the waterfall throughout different eras. Frustratingly, vintage postcards from that period often relied on rather generous or artistic interpretations of reality. In this case, every image in the collection looks completely different from the next, which may have been true as mill’s can greatly change the course of a waterway. Fortunately, I was able to find one modern image of the falls from a local Facebook group. In its current form, it looks more like a dam than a true waterfall.
