Camp Wyanokie Falls

Camp Wyanokie Falls in Norvin Green State Forest

Camp Wyanokie Falls is a small waterfall near and named after Camp Wyanokie, a small campground owned by a group of Essex County municipalities (despite its location in Passaic County).

Reaching the waterfall is fairly easy to reach with two main access points:

  • Camp Wyanokie: Park at Camp Wyanokie in one of the pull-off parking areas on Snake Den Road. You will see the picnic pavilion and the small pond. Just past the pavilion is the pond’s dam. Cross the dam, then turn left onto the Yellow Camp Wyanokie Trail. Follow the trail for just under a half mile. The waterfall will be on your left.
  • Westbrook Road: Park at the small parking lot on Westbrook Road. Walk a few hundred feet downhill along the shoulder of the road until you reach Roaring Brook Road, where you will find the Yellow Camp Wyanokie Trail. Follow this trail upstream for about 0.8 miles until you reach the waterfall on your right.

While the majority of the Camp Wyanokie Trail hugs the stream, it actually briefly leaves it just at Camp Wyanokie Falls. While the waterfall is visible from the trail here, it is not impressive. There is no trail down to the stream, but it is fairly easy to make your way down and not too steep.

Camp Wyanokie Falls features a gentle cascade into a large pool. Multiple large boulders line the stream here, providing many areas to view the waterfall without getting wet.
