Mountainside Park is a moderately sized town park in the Pompton Plains area of Pequannock Township. The park is open exclusively to hikers and features rugged, hilly trails on the edge of the New Jersey Highlands. The park is visible to drivers along Interstate 287, which unfortunately causes some noise pollution on the trails.

Scout Camping
There are two camping areas featuring lean-tos and picnic pavilions in the park. The camping areas are by permit only and are designed to be used by scouting groups. The camping areas require a hike to reach.

The Park
Mountainside Park is a moderately sized park owned by Pequannock Township. The trails are maintained by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, who manage most of the trails in the North Jersey region.
Trails
The park features over 5 miles of well-maintained trails and two main loop hikes: the Red Trail and the Blue Trail.
Unfortunately, due to the proximity of Interstate 287, road noise is present on most trails, especially on the Blue Trail. Trails further from the highway feature less noise pollution, such as on the Red Trail.
Pequannock Knob
The far northern end of the park features the 763-foot Pequannock Knob. The Pequannock Knob is the highest point in the park. The summit features a bench and a small overlook of Morris County with views of the Lincoln Park Airport.
